Serpens
The Snake

The Mythology

Serpens is the snake found on the caduceus, the medical symbol that shows 2 snakes wrapped around a winged staff.  The story goes that Aesculapius, Hippocrates grandfather, killed a snake.  Another snake came over to the dead one, put some herbs on the dead snakes head and brought him back to life.  From that, Aesculapius learned the healing power of herbs.
